Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Everything you need to know about the Gujarat Legislative Assembly Election 2027 schedule and voting phases

Q: When are the Gujarat Assembly Elections 2027 scheduled to take place?

The 15th Gujarat Legislative Assembly's five-year constitutional term concludes in December 2027. General elections will be scheduled by the Election Commission of India (ECI) in late 2027, with voting typically held in two separate phases in late November or early December, followed by vote counting.

Q: Why are Gujarat Assembly elections conducted in two separate phases?

With 182 assembly constituencies spread across 33 districts and more than 49,000 polling booths, elections are scheduled in two geographic phases. Phase 1 covers Saurashtra, Kutch, and South Gujarat, while Phase 2 covers Central and North Gujarat. This phased schedule ensures orderly logistics, secure EVM-VVPAT deployment, and sufficient security personnel across all polling stations.

Q: When will the official election notification and candidate nomination dates be announced?

The Election Commission of India issues the official statutory election notification approximately 4 weeks before the polling dates. Following the notification, candidates have one week to submit nomination papers to the Returning Officer, followed by scrutiny of nominations and the withdrawal deadline.

Q: On which date will the vote counting and election results be declared?

Vote counting is scheduled to take place on counting day starting at 8:00 AM across all district counting centres in Gujarat. Postal ballots are tallied first, followed by sequential rounds of EVM vote counts. Final results and victory margins are declared simultaneously on the ECI results portal and updated live here.

Q: How can voters find their polling date and phase for their local constituency?

Electors can search for their assembly constituency using our online Constituency Finder or by verifying their Voter Information Slip on the official ECI portal (voters.eci.gov.in). Each voter's designated phase (Phase 1 or Phase 2) and polling station location are tied to their registered assembly constituency.
